HOLY WEEK PRESIDENT's welcome message

Dear visitor:

From this institution that I preside, I am addressing you to transmit, first of all, the most cordial welcome and, aso, to welcome you in this virtual space that pretends to be a perennially open window to the passionate celebration of this town of Crevillent.

Holy Week is an essential factor to understand the idiosyncrasy of the people in this industrial town, zealous in the preservation of countless artistic expressions and expressive, like few others, through choral singing. The many peculiarities that make it worthy of recognition of International Tourist Interest in 2011.

Here you will find a very valuable sample of how a whole town appeases its Mediterranean finery for a week to live fervently the Passion, Death and Resurrection of Christ.

The evocation of those evangelical passages is materialized in Crevillent with the ingenuity of renowned sculptors (Mariano Benlliure, Carmelo Vicent, José Navas Parejo, Antonio Riudavest, Carles Flotats, etc.) and prestigious musicians who joined forces in the creation of amazing steps and beautiful scores to achieve a perfect mystical symbiosis around the redemptive sacrifice of Jesus of Nazareth.

I invite you to consult all the information available on this website to learn more about one of our hallmarks. You will be able to access artistic, musical and gastronomic sections that will bring you closer to the habits experienced by the Crevillians in these holy days.

In addition, if you wish to admire the sculptural and textile ensembles linked to this secular celebration, I suggest you to visit the facilities of our fabulous Museum of Holy Week, a true jewel of Sacred Art, not only locally, but also at the regional and national level.

It only remains for me to thank you for the interest with which you have received my message and to invite you to witness “in situ” some of our processions. I am sure that the experience will be unforgettable.

Yours faithfully,

Mario Fco. Ruiz Igual
President of the Federation of Brotherhoods of Holy Week in Crevillent
